CARES Group completed Chemical Exposure Monitoring on board two Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels installed offshore Ghana.
CARES Group personnel conducted chemical exposure monitoring on operators that are potentially exposed to benzene and glutaraldehyde.
Personal exposures of operators to benzene were measured using Passive Sampling Badges, following Method Reference MDHS 96 – “Volatile Organic Compounds in Air”.
Personal exposures of operators to glutaraldehyde were measured using UMEX 500-100 Aldehyde Badges, following Method Reference MDHS 78 “Formaldehyde in Air” and Method Reference OSHA 64.
The samples were analysed in the laboratory. In order to check regulatory compliance CARES Group calculated 8-hour Time Weighted Average (TWA) exposures and these were compared to Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs).
The results of the monitoring were provided to MODEC in an interpretative report. The report included information and recommendations for measures that could reduce personal exposures to benzene and glutaraldehyde.
