PROJECT SUMMARY
Project start: Jun 2017
Project completion: Jul 2017
Sectors: Oil & Gas
Project location: Ibeju-Lekki, Nigeria

CARES carried out a walkover survey to assess the extent of the erosion of the site and the prevailing wave climate along the coastline. The change in shoreline position over time was analysed from historic satellite imagery to build an understanding of the morphology of the beach area and estimate the rate of coastal erosion.
Based upon the environmental conditions observed at the site, CARES assessed a range of viable coastal protection schemes including softer, sand-based techniques through to harder, rock/concrete based coastal defences.
The coastal protection options were presented to the client in terms of capital cost, anticipated design life and serviceability in order to inform their business case for implementing the coastal protection works.
