CARES were appointed to undertake environmental monitoring on behalf of China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), Ghana.
China Harbour Engineering Company, Ghana (CHEC) were the Contractor for the Marine Works component of the construction works of a new container terminal, to be developed at Tema Port.
The Marine Works component includes dredging activities, breakwater construction, reclamation works and quay wall construction. As part of the project, CHEC was also running a quarry.
CARES were appointed by CHEC to undertake environmental monitoring of the quarry and potentially high impact locations along the route from the quarry to the construction site and surrounding areas.
CARES were contracted to conduct bi-weekly monitoring at a total of 40 locations in line with the requirements of the International Finance Commission (IFC).
