British Gas International wanted to obtain geotechnical information for the engineering design of the proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) loading facilities at a site near Olokola, Nigeria.
To support this development, CARES was appointed to conduct geotechnical investigation for the engineering design for the jetty and LNG loading dock, breakwater and dredged channel.
CARES conducted the investigation and covered the complete geotechnical scope including field data gathering (soil borings for sample collection and cone penetration tests), laboratory testing, data evaluation and preparation of data reports..
The geophysical site investigation included data acquisition utilising Echo Sounder, Side Scan Sonar, SubBottom Profiler, Magnetometer and, Seismic Refraction.
CARES personnel provided Project Management and Site Supervision Services. The data received was analysed and compiled to form the basis of an interpretive report. The interpretative report included recommendations for further work, possible pile solutions and dredging designs.
