Petrolex intends to develop an Oil Refinery at the existing Petrolex Facility in Ibefun, Ogun State. The refinery is planned to be built on 250 acres of Greenfield next to the existing Petrolex Jetty and Tank Farms.
To support this development CARES have been commissioned to conduct an ESHIA.
The refinery is planned to be developed within the existing Petrolex facility in Ibefun, Ogun State, The existing facility includes a 2,500 capacity trailer park and jetty; marine logistics operation including 10 barges and 2 tug boats.
It is intended that the refinery will process 250,000 barrels of oil per day and as a result will enhance Nigeria’s drive towards self-sufficiency in crude oil refining and help to build expertise in laying of crude and petroleum products’ pipelines.
In order to meet the requirements of the Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), as well as meeting the requirements of banks and other funding agencies Petrolex has asked CARES to complete an ESHIA of the proposed refinery development.
